GAMES & COMPETITION-THE HEAVYBAG RACE
The games and competition are ideas to help spice up you clubs curriculum, parties, drills or fundraisers. They can give
you practices a little change of pace and help keep retention by eliminating routine boring workouts.
THE HEAVYBAG RACE
The Heavybag Race is a race involving two or more contestants. The contestants race by punching or kicking a standing heavybag
across the floor until the first contestant reaches the finish line. You can use any standing heavybag. Heavybags containing
water or sand. Empty enough of its contents, so that when struck, it will move across the floor.
Be sure that you measure the bags to see if they are the same weight. Children or adults can perform this competition.
It is used to develop power.
You may want to have divisions or levels of competitors such as adults/children divided by age, gender, weight, etc. You
can also perform the races in a team competition. The competitors can move the bag up the floor and punch it back to the next
competitor or you can divide the floor up in sections, if you have a large club or gym and let the contestants punch the bags
in one direction.
If the bag is knocked on the floor, 1-3 times you can have the offending contestant eliminated. You decide how many times
the bag hits the floor before the contestant is eliminated. I suggest no more than 2 because you do not want to damage your
bags. The participants have to learn self control also.
